Fillmore
Daze is the vibe of a scene that exists only in our minds. Like a Penthouse
Centerfold - recorded Live at the Fillmore - embodies an idealized sensual
perfection. Had we actually been with her - had we actually been there
- our memories could have been corrupted by the reality of the day.
But like Cameron Crowe in "Almost Famous", we only witnessed
the swan song of Rock and Roll, so everything that came before - performed
in that temple of rock - becomes immortalized atop the music pedestal.
All
of which explains why Fillmore Daze is not just nostalgia. And it certainly
is not Classic Rock, rather it is rock of a classic period - 1968 to
1971. For those of us who make up Fillmore Daze, it is also an academic
discipline. It enables us to focus. We are five individuals who love
the great music that came before and the great music that came after
that golden period. But by embracing the roster of bands who performed
at the Fillmore East, we can at least attempt to agree on which music
to present on any given night.
So
enter the Time Tunnel and go to a space that never was - Fillmore Daze.
